In 2026 we want to further strengthen youth participation in the Netherlands by expanding and diversifying Local Collective. Our objectives are to connect more youth councils, panels and initiatives, to provide training and peer learning for young people aged 12–30, and to build sustainable participation structures. A major innovation this year is the launch of a youth-managed digital knowledge platform to preserve and share expertise. We will also professionalise our communication with a new visual identity and tools and broaden inclusion by linking to NJR’s Diversity & Inclusion working group. Finally, we aim to extend the network to the Caribbean Netherlands, ensuring youth perspectives are heard nationally and regionally. These objectives will ensure more meaningful youth participation at local level for both young people and decision-makers which will lead to better shaped and more representative local and regional policies for young people.
