A group of young people wants to transform Rotterdam into a more inclusive city. The idea is simple - create brave spaces for dialogue between diverse groups of young people about things that matter to them. Then, decide together about the changes we need to see being implemented and start a dialogue with the decision makers that have the power to make those happen. Our methodology is Legislative Theatre. It is a simple approach, accessible to all, and, therefore, more inclusive. It comprehends a structure that transforms the setting into a place that is safe to express different opinions, promote active listening and foster mutual understanding and connection. Participants can express themselves in various ways, do real time “simulations” and become active agents for change. The project aim is to create spaces for social dialogue and youth participation in decision making in Rotterdam, and to motivate youth to keep on actively participating in local and national democratic activities.
