We want to organize the annual, national Model European Parliament (MEP) conference, in which young people from all over the Netherlands participate. The Model European Parliament (MEP) is a simulation of the European Parliament, where young people aged 15-18 simulate the role of Member of the European Parliament. During the MEP, young people are introduced to the complex democratic and political processes surrounding European decision-making. They learn to actively participate, gain insight into the importance of cooperation between EU member states, learn to navigate differences while collaborating with peers, and gain extensive substantive knowledge. During the conference, young people will speak with policymakers about important societal issues. The MEP allows young people to develop skills in a safe environment that enable them to become active European citizens.
