This youth exchange between Norway and Croatia aims to strengthen young people’s democratic participation and leadership skills through non-formal learning. Initiated by the Norwegian youth group, the project responds to the need for youth to feel ownership of democracy and their ability to influence society. By comparing the well-established structures of youth democracy in Norway with the more recent democratic traditions in Croatia, participants will gain a deeper understanding of democratic values, as well as practical tools for civic engagement. The objectives are to: - Equip young people with concrete skills in leadership, democratic dialogue, and project management. - Foster active citizenship and empower youth to inspire peers in their local communities. - Promote solidarity, intercultural understanding, and appreciation of diversity as a strength. - Strengthen a sense of European belonging by connecting youth from Northern and Southern Europe. From a youth work perspective, the project creates space for peer-to-peer learning, co-creation, and intercultural dialogue, enabling participants not only to learn about democracy but also to practice it in meaningful ways.
