We want to achieve a stronger and more innovative approach to youth work by showing how basketball and sport can be used not only for physical activity but as powerful tools for social inclusion, competence development and employability. Across Europe, many young people face barriers such as school drop-out, unemployment, lack of role models and difficulties with integration. Through this project, we aim to equip youth workers with new methods to reach these young people, build their motivation and help them to see clear pathways into education and work. The main objectives are to improve the quality of youth work by training youth workers in non-formal education methods that connect sport with personal development; to strengthen inclusion and diversity by engaging young people with fewer opportunities, including those with economic, social or health barriers; and to create a sustainable European network of organisations that can continue to share and develop these practices. We also want to empower youth workers to recognise and validate competences such as leadership, teamwork, entrepreneurship and digital skills, which young people gain through participation in basketball clubs and community projects. From the perspective of youth work practice, this project will provide youth workers with practical, hands-on tools that they can apply immediately in their daily activities. It will also give them the confidence and inspiration to integrate sport more effectively into non-formal education, making youth work more attractive and accessible to disadvantaged young people. By building on the proven methods of RSBK and adapting them through international exchange, the project will contribute to a long-term improvement in how youth work supports young people to complete their education, gain employment and actively participate in society.
