Adventure Through Seasons equips youth workers and trainers to run safe, inclusive, and reliable outdoor/adventure education year-round—in summer and in winter—and to transfer these methods into everyday programmes with their learners. Objectives // Make outdoor education truly year-round. Demonstrate, in the same location (Volda), how facilitation, routes, equipment, safety and group care are adapted for summer and winter. Each participant leaves able to plan and lead one summer and one winter session in their context (parks, school yards, local trails, rural routes). // Raise safety and risk-management quality. Build confident use of brief–check–debrief, go/slow/no-go decisions, seasonal kit lists, simple route plans, and one-page risk files—so sessions are calm, predictable, and accountable. // Strengthen inclusive facilitation under real constraints. Improve communication, pacing, role rotation, and layered challenge for mixed-ability groups; practise trauma-aware group care and clear debriefs that turn activity into learning. // Support mental wellbeing through nature-based routines. Embed short, low-cost practices (check-ins, movement, daylight exposure, quiet time, simple de-escalation) that youth workers can run in ordinary settings and seasons. // Grow environmental literacy in everyday sessions. Use Leave-No-Trace, local biodiversity themes, and route choices that respect sensitive areas; translate these into short, repeatable activities for schools/VET, youth centres and clubs. // Develop trainer pedagogy (ToT). Advance training design, co-training, observation and feedback, and mentoring of junior facilitators, so organisations can build their own trainer pool rather than rely on a few experts. // Guarantee transfer at home. Each participant commits to one local pilot between the mobilities and at least two cascade actions (in-house workshops or mentoring cycles) afterwards—using shared run-sheets and observation notes. // Produce a concise Trainer Micro-Toolkit. Co-create seasonal kit checklists, safety/briefing scripts, ready-to-run session plans (summer & winter), debrief prompts, and adaptation tips for different geographies and facilities; publish for direct reuse. // Sustain a community of practice. Keep a light exchange (shared drive, short method clinics) across the 10-organisation consortium so quality improves beyond the mobilities and practice stays aligned through the seasons.
