The project aims to strengthen the capacity of Deaf youth workers to organise meaningful and safe youth exchanges and camps. In recent years, many Deaf youth organisations have expressed hesitation to host such activities because they lack trained volunteers, have lost expertise after Covid-19, and fear they do not have the necessary skills. As a result, valuable opportunities for Deaf young people risk being lost. The objectives of the project are: • to equip Deaf youth workers with practical competences in three key areas of camp organisation: logistics and financial management, meaningful programming and impact, and safeguarding and safe space creation; • to rebuild confidence and motivation among Deaf youth organisations to host national and European camps; • to produce a practical toolkit in written English and International Sign, enabling any Deaf youth organisation to organise camps more effectively in the future; • to promote peer learning and cooperation among Deaf youth workers from different countries, creating a European network of motivated organisers; • to contribute to the inclusion of Deaf youth in Erasmus+, by developing training designed in sign language and by Deaf organisations themselves. From the perspective of youth work practice, the project will provide structured yet non-formal training that bridges the gap between theory and the practical realities of organising camps. It will also ensure that Deaf youth organisations are not left behind in European mobility opportunities, but are empowered to actively shape them.
