The Guided by Nature project was created in response to the real challenges faced by young people that we encounter in our daily work, both in the social and environmental spheres. On the one hand, young people are increasingly feeling the negative effects of excessive use of technology, which leads to alienation, difficulties in face-to-face interactions, reduced sleep quality, and less motivation to meet offline. On the other hand, young people are aware of the growing climate crisis, but often lack the practical knowledge and tools to act in the spirit of sustainable development. Our research (a survey of 89 young people and an analysis of Eurostat data) confirms the scale of these challenges: over 80% of young people feel more socially alienated since the pandemic, over 70% have greater difficulties in offline relationships, and nearly 70% report a weaker connection with nature. Therefore, our goal is to create a space where young people can rebuild social relationships, learn to balance online and offline life, and gain knowledge and motivation for environmental action. The project has four main practical objectives: 1. Rebuilding contact with nature – through outdoor activities, environmental workshops, and practical pro-environmental activities. 2. Developing social and communication skills – through group work, integration, and international cooperation, young people learn empathy, cooperation, and openness. 3. Environmental education and sustainable development – participants learn how to implement pro-environmental practices in their daily lives and become conscious ambassadors of change. 4. Active youth participation – young people take part in the decision-making process, co-create the program, and carry out follow-up activities in their communities. The project is in line with the priorities of Erasmus+: * Green transition – promoting climate awareness and a green lifestyle. * Inclusion and diversity – supporting people with fewer opportunities and creating a space open to cultural diversity. * Digital transformation – reflecting on the role of technology and seeking a healthy balance. * Active participation – involving young people in shaping activities and developing their civic competences. The international nature of the project (Poland, Lithuania, Italy, Greece, Turkey) enhances its value – participants learn to cooperate across borders, exchange experiences, and compare perspectives, which allows them to better understand global challenges and seek solutions together. This cooperation does not end with mobility alone – participants will become local ambassadors of change, conducting outreach activities in their communities. From the perspective of youth work practice, the project is particularly important because it responds to real problems that we observe on a daily basis: lack of motivation to meet offline, isolation, low self-confidence in relationships, and lack of practical contact with nature. At the same time, Guided by Nature provides young people with the tools to become active citizens and leaders of change – both social and environmental. In this way, the project not only supports the development of individuals, but also strengthens entire local communities, making young people real partners in building a more sustainable and united Europe.
