Entrepreneurial learning - entrepreneurship educationDigital skills and competences

Objectives

One of the key reasons we want to implement the ENTAR project is the need to support young people in developing entrepreneurial competencies and practical skills for starting and running their own businesses. Although we are a young foundation from a small town, we actively cooperate with local schools and have already conducted numerous workshops for high school students. It was during one of these entrepreneurship-focused workshops that we noticed a significant gap in young people’s practical knowledge and skills. Students clearly expressed their desire to start their own businesses, but they lacked the tools, competencies, knowledge, and confidence to implement these plans. For this reason, we concluded that comprehensive actions are needed—combining theory with practice and providing young people with the opportunity to experiment in a safe educational environment. According to OECD data, despite strong interest in entrepreneurship, young people still face significant barriers. If individuals aged 18–30 engaged in business creation at the same level as those aged 30–49, an additional 3.6 million enterprises would have been created in OECD countries. At the same time, European Commission reports indicate that 46% of young Europeans consider starting their own business, but only 9% actually run one, clearly highlighting the gap between aspirations and real action. The ENTAR project was created in response to these needs. Its aim is to develop entrepreneurial attitudes among young people through learning by doing and gamification, allowing participants to safely experiment, gain competencies, and test their own ideas. During the project, young people will go through the entire business creation process: from market analysis, identifying funding sources, and researching competition, to preparing marketing strategies, budgeting, developing a business model, and presenting their ideas in the form of an elevator pitch. A special component will be the Start-up Challenge and the development of original board games focused on entrepreneurship, combining practical skill-building with creativity and international collaboration. Working with youth in this project relies on non-formal methods: workshops, games, discussions, simulations, and collaborative creation of materials. Participants will also learn to use digital tools such as Canva and InShot, enabling them to create visually appealing and professional materials to support learning and project promotion. In this way, young people will not only be recipients of knowledge but will actively contribute as content creators, developing digital competencies, creativity, presentation skills, and teamwork in an international context. The ENTAR project objectives include, among others: producing at least 60 educational materials (games, flipcharts, infographics, videos, etc.); increasing young people’s knowledge of business plan creation, market analysis, marketing, and finance (at least 85% of participants); boosting self-confidence and entrepreneurial skills (at least 80%); improving digital and project management competencies (at least 70%); strengthening soft skills such as critical thinking, international team collaboration, and public speaking (at least 80%); organizing five local events promoting the project; and running a multimedia campaign along with a board game brochure distributed widely to stakeholders in both Polish and English. The project will also introduce participants to EU entrepreneurship support programs and prepare them for further international cooperation. The ENTAR project will allow young people to explore EU entrepreneurship support programs and prepare them for ongoing international collaboration. These activities will contribute not only to the development of participants’ entrepreneurial, digital, and soft skills but also to strengthening local communities through practical education and knowledge exchange. We want young people not only to acquire knowledge but also to have the opportunity to apply it in practice, create their own projects, expand their European networks, and build self-confidence, which is crucial for their future careers and independence. For our young foundation, implementing the ENTAR project is also an opportunity to grow and gain experience in international youth work. Through this project, we are learning effective project management, methods for disseminating results, working with participants from different countries and cultures, and implementing innovative non-formal educational methods. ENTAR simultaneously allows us to strengthen the position of the AYE Foundation as an active organization in international youth cooperation, capable of creating valuable projects and making a real impact on the development of young people’s competencies.
