Objectives

“Permaculture of Life” is an international youth exchange that will take place in Dolina Harmonii in the Izera Foothills of Poland. The project will bring together 27 participants from Poland, Italy, Spain, Estonia, and Slovakia – young participants, group leaders, and facilitators. The aim of the program is to combine care for young people’s mental and emotional wellbeing with the development of ecological and social competences, thus responding to the key challenges of contemporary Europe. We see that young people today struggle with information overload, pressure to succeed, economic uncertainty, and the climate crisis. At the same time, more and more of them experience social isolation and mental health problems. They lack spaces for inner regeneration, practical skills for simple and ecological living, as well as communal and international experiences. Permaculture of Life was designed as an answer to these challenges. The program is based on three pathways of regeneration: 1. Inner Regeneration Every change begins within. That is why the project starts with mindfulness practices, meditation, forest bathing, emotional work, and sharing circles. These experiences help young people pause, better understand themselves, their emotions, and their relationships with others. They cultivate self-awareness, empathy, and a sense of inner balance necessary for conscious and responsible action. 2. Earth Regeneration The second part of the program consists of practical workshops in permaculture, composting, sprouting, ecological living, and simple constructions in harmony with nature. Young people will experience how small actions – such as growing their own food or reducing consumption – can have a real impact on the environment and everyday life. 3. Community Regeneration The final stage focuses on social skills and cooperation: NVC workshops, emotional work, “Secret Classes” on global education, and reflection circles. We want young people to be able to build trust, make collective decisions, and understand the mechanisms of today’s world and the challenges of the polycrisis, so that they can create communities based on solidarity and cooperation. The outcomes will include not only concrete skills but also dissemination activities: the Permaculture of Life zine, articles, video recordings, and at least five local initiatives implemented by participants in their home countries. The project will also strengthen the network of partner organizations and lead to the creation of new Erasmus+ applications focused on ecology, wellbeing, and youth education. “Permaculture of Life” is an invitation to experience life in simplicity and community, to learn through action, and to discover that small steps – from self-care practices to planting a garden – can transform both ourselves and the world around us.
