Inclusion of marginalised young peopleQuality and innovation of youth workDemocracy and inclusive democratic participation

Objectives

The DARKless project aims to strengthen the capacity of youth workers to engage marginalised young people through innovative, arts-based methods, specifically Black Light Theatre (BLT), physical theatre, and non-verbal communication. In youth work practice, many traditional tools fail to reach young people who face exclusion, language barriers, trauma, or low self-esteem. This project responds by equipping youth workers with inclusive, creative, and safe methods that foster expression, participation, and empowerment. What we want to achieve Youth workers trained: 21 youth workers from 7 countries will gain practical competences in BLT and inclusive facilitation. Marginalised youth engaged: at least 210 disadvantaged young people will take part in local BLT workshops after the mobility. Innovative tools created: a Toolkit with ≥10 BLT-based exercises and a recorded flagship performance will remain as open resources for the youth work field. Stronger organisations: partner NGOs will integrate BLT into regular activities, enhancing their ability to work inclusively with Roma youth, migrants, refugees, LGBTQ+ youth, and those in rural areas. Objectives in youth work practice Build capacity of youth workers to use creative, non-verbal methods that lower barriers and engage young people who are reluctant to participate in traditional workshops. Promote inclusion and diversity in youth work by adapting BLT for groups with fewer opportunities and embedding EU values of dignity, equality, and participation. Develop innovative methodologies by linking theatre-based techniques with non-formal education and digital tools (recording, streaming). Strengthen resilience of youth workers, reducing burnout by providing refreshing, motivating practices. Ensure sustainability and transferability through resources, peer mentoring, and dissemination at local, national, and European levels.
