Objectives

The project Safe & Smart: Digital Competences in Youth Work was created out of the need to strengthen youth workers in the field of digital competences and information security. In everyday practice, we observe that young people use the internet and social media intensively, but often lack the ability to critically analyze content, recognize disinformation, or protect their personal data. As a result, they are exposed to the risks of cyberbullying, manipulation, and loss of privacy. Youth workers – educators, trainers, mentors, leaders – face the challenge of supporting young people in safe and conscious functioning in the digital world, while they themselves also need practical tools and knowledge in this area. The aim of the project is to develop the digital and educational competences of youth workers through participation in a seven-day training involving five partner organizations. Participants will gain knowledge on digital safety, media literacy, and recognizing disinformation, and they will learn how to integrate these topics into their daily work with young people. An important goal is also the creation of a toolkit with educational methods and workshop scenarios that will be available for use in youth work long after the mobility ends. The project will enable youth workers to become more confident in using new technologies, better prepared to respond to the challenges of the digital reality, and stronger in their role as guides for young people towards safe and responsible internet use. As a result, activities undertaken for young people will gain in quality and effectiveness, while the developed outcomes will be widely disseminated – within organizations, local communities, and the international youth work environment.
