Awareness about the European UnionEnvironment and climate change

Objectives

Water, which is the most fundamental element of human rights, is decreasing in today's world for various reasons and standard living conditions are under threat. On our planet, including now, 2 billion people cannot reach water, and 880 million of these people are in a shortage of water, that is, between life and death. According to the 2022 World Water Report prepared by the World Resource Institute, 2 billion people do not have regular access to clean water resources, 4.3 billion people do not use sanitary facilities. However, healthy and clean drinking water is accepted as the basic human right in the EU and other circles. Clean and usable water is vital for living things to survive. Not only environmental pollution but also global warming and climate change bring with it the risk of thirst. Research by the EU Commission states that half of the European population is threatened by water scarcity. In order to reverse this situation, in order to save our future with young people, we consider saving in industry, agriculture and our homes, eliminating unconsciousness in water use, highlighting technological best practices, and engaging in water footprint reduction activities, thus implementing this project to raise awareness chain. Particularly, We want to eliminate the unconsciousness use of water among young people in society. We see that we will talk about a more welcoming and bright environment for our future with the success of this project. Our future people, today's young people, will realize this project and become individuals who benefit society and invest self. The project extend in three phases, guiding participants through research, engagement, and action on water conservation. Initially, they will explore the concept of water footprint, analyze consumption habits, and set personal sustainability goals while enhancing research, communication, and teamwork skills. The second phase focuses on public engagement, where participants will create awareness campaigns, conduct interviews with locals and tourists, and develop persuasion techniques to address water scarcity challenges. Finally, they will take action through a "Protest Simulation", crisis management exercises, and a visit to the Porto Santo Desalination Plant, where they will engage with experts and local authorities. This structured approach ensures participants gain knowledge, practical skills, and a strong sense of responsibility toward environmental sustainability. Our special objectives: - To measure and develop the knowledge of youth workers on special situations and special needs related to water problems in the world. - Participants will learn how to save water step by step. - Promote cultural exchange trough EU and partner programe countries citizens/residents. - To support the development of different Erasmus + projects for young people related to water problems. - To be aware of the difficulties of water scarcity and drought, to lay a sustainable approach to water resources management, to create a chain of awareness in water use and to increase the level of consciousness.
