Objectives

This project directly addresses a critical paradox identified among European youth: while concern for climate change is high, it is often deprioritised due to pressing economic anxieties and a perceived lack of practical skills for meaningful engagement. Our preliminary needs analysis confirms this, revealing that a significant majority of young people feel they lack the digital competencies and intercultural confidence required to transform their environmental awareness into effective action. Therefore, the primary aim of this project is to bridge this gap by empowering young people, particularly those with fewer opportunities, with tangible skills for digital environmental advocacy. By integrating non-formal education methodologies aligned with the European Digital Competence Framework (DigComp) and the European sustainability competence framework (GreenComp), we will demonstrate that developing practical, employable skills and promoting active European citizenship are mutually reinforcing goals. To achieve this aim, the project will pursue the following specific objectives: 1. To develop participants' digital content creation skills for effective environmental communication, including graphic design, short-form video production, and compelling storytelling. 2. To enhance participants' awareness of the interconnectedness of local and European environmental challenges, empowering them to design and implement a collaborative online advocacy campaign. 3. To strengthen intercultural collaboration and communication skills among a diverse group of young people, preparing them for active participation in European civic life. 4. To promote youth-led activism by providing participants with the tools and confidence to act as multipliers of positive change within their local communities and online networks. Ultimately, by achieving these objectives, the project will cultivate a new generation of digitally proficient and interculturally confident young leaders, equipped to drive positive environmental change and strengthen civic engagement across Europe.
