The youth exchange “Imagine All the People” aims to use accessible sport as a powerful tool to create inclusion, break down stereotypes and empower young people - with and without disabilities - to live, learn and play together as equals. Through this project we want to show that sport is not only about competition but about cooperation, empathy and creating communities where everyone can belong. Across Europe, young people with physical disabilities often face barriers that go beyond the visible: inaccessible sport facilities, lack of opportunities, stereotypes that they are “too weak” or “too different” to participate fully. In many of our partner countries - Romania, Georgia, Italy, The republic of North Macedonia, Ukraine and Turkey statistics show that young people with disabilities are less likely to engage in sport, have fewer friends outside their families and experience higher risks of depression or social isolation. Many of them do not even know that sport can be accessible, joyful and open for them. On the other hand, young people without disabilities often grow up with little direct contact with peers with disabilities, which leads to misunderstanding, prejudice and distance. Our organisations know these problems personally: our teams include members with disabilities and we work daily with young people who feel excluded. We see the sadness when someone feels they cannot join in, we also see how a single inclusive activity can transform lives. Still, society continues to close doors and many young people remain invisible. This is the reality we want to change through “Imagine All the People”. To respond to these challenges, we set the following objectives: -To give young people with disabilities the chance to participate fully in an international youth exchange, not as “guests” but as leaders and co-creators. -To raise awareness among all participants about the barriers and strengths of living with a disability and to build empathy and understanding. -To promote accessible sport disciplines as tools of inclusion, teamwork and equality, to show that sport can be adapted for everyone. -To support young people in developing new skills (leadership, teamwork, creativity, intercultural communication) through non-formal learning. -To create a safe and supportive environment where young people can build healthy habits, sustainable lifestyles and long-term friendships. -To produce tangible results - a Booklet of Inclusive Activities and a youth-led Call-to-Action campaign - that will inspire communities across Europe. -To strengthen cooperation between youth organisations in partner countries, developing expertise in inclusive youth work and building sustainable partnerships for the future. During the project, participants will: -Work in their national teams before the exchange to research and prepare one inclusive sport activity from their local context. This preparation will already raise awareness in their communities. -Travel to Romania in June 2026 for a 7-day youth exchange (6 full activity days + 2 travel days). Here, each team will facilitate their prepared sport activity for the international group. -Cooperate in mixed-nationality teams to design brand new inclusive games, which will later be compiled into the Booklet of Inclusive Activities. -Reflect daily on their learning, using creative non-formal tools such as journaling, drawing, storytelling and group sharing. -Take part in intercultural evenings where, besides sharing traditions, they will also highlight sustainable practices and inclusive aspects of their cultures. -Co-create and launch a youth-led Call-to-Action campaign, using videos, slogans, photos and stories to spread awareness about inclusion and European values online. -Present their experiences and results in their home countries after the exchange, through school workshops, sport demonstrations, youth club presentations or online posts. -Disseminate the Booklet and the Call-to-Action campaign locally and online, making the results visible and useful beyond the project. “Imagine All the People” will bring together 30 young people from 6 countries to learn, play and create as equals. It will give space for young people with disabilities to be seen and heard, and for their peers to understand and support them. It will produce lasting results - both in tangible tools and in changed attitudes - and it will strengthen youth work in the field of inclusion. Above all, it will show that when barriers are removed, sport can unite us in a way that words alone cannot.
