Objectives

By implementing this project, we aim to address the real needs of young people from Bucharest and Chisinau, who live in crowded urban environments and face a lack of time spent in nature. Scientific studies show that the absence of connection with the natural environment leads to stress, anxiety, and difficulties in concentration, and young people from the two capitals confirm these challenges through the high level of academic and competitive pressure. Through specific outdoor education activities – hiking, compass orientation, setting up tents, building shelters, or managing limited resources such as water and food – young people will acquire practical skills as well as essential transversal competences: teamwork, leadership, decision-making under pressure, resilience, and environmental responsibility. These competences cannot be learned solely in a formal framework but are strengthened through authentic experiences in nature. From the perspective of youth work, the objective is for participants to become aware of the importance of balancing their academic life with their mental and physical health. We will use non-formal methods – role-plays, crisis simulations in nature, intercultural activities – to stimulate experiential learning and create contexts where young people overcome prejudices and collaborate with peers from another country. Moreover, their involvement in daily reflection activities, feedback sessions, and the creation of their own multimedia resources will strengthen the learning process and provide them with the opportunity to share their experiences further in their communities. Specific objectives: 1. To develop transversal competences among 36 young people (18 from Romania and 18 from the Republic of Moldova) through survival activities in nature, orientation, risk management, and respect for the environment; 2. To increase awareness of the benefits of spending time in nature for physical and mental health, by involving 36 direct beneficiaries and at least 100 indirect beneficiaries in dissemination and follow-up activities; 3. To strengthen cross-border cooperation by enhancing the capacity of the two partner organizations to implement KA1-type projects and integrate non-formal methods into their youth work activities.
