The main activity of the project entitled SkillUp: Core skills for youth workers will take place between 4-10 June 2026, in Bușteni, Romania, but the total project duration is 12 months. Following our needs assessment process, we have identified four key areas where our teams require support for professional development: 1.Motivation – how to motivate and engage young people, how to guide and mentor them effectively; 2.Social inclusion – how to work with young people with fewer opportunities, how to gain their trust and organise inclusive activities; 3.Non-formal learning – achieving a better understanding of the non-formal educational process, developing facilitation skills, and expanding the range of methods used; 4.Conflict management – how to address tense situations, how to handle aggressive behaviours, etc. Through a structured approach based on practical methods and collaborative learning, the project will create a safe environment in which participants can strengthen their competences and build the confidence needed to take on active roles as trainers, mentors and facilitators of change in their communities. The three SMART objectives of the project are: Objective I: Throughout the 12 months of implementation, the 25 participants will develop their knowledge and practical skills in the four essential areas of youth work – motivation, social inclusion, non-formal learning, and conflict management – through active participation in training sessions, practical workshops, and reflection activities. Objective II: By the end of the project, each of the 25 participants will have developed a personalised portfolio containing at least 20 non-formal methods, selected and adapted according to the needs of the target group they work with, and will demonstrate the ability to integrate these methods effectively into their current youth work practice. Objective III: During the 12-month period, at least 90% of participants will report a significant increase in confidence in their professional abilities, and at least 20 of them will initiate or co-organise new activities for young people within their respective organisations.
