The Be Aware (BEAR) project is designed to respond to the need for youth workers to strengthen their personal development, self-awareness and reflective capacities in order to provide meaningful, high-quality support to young people. Through cross-national needs analysis, we have observed that youth workers are often overwhelmed by fast-changing environments, societal challenges and information overload. Without adequate tools for awareness, communication, teamwork, goal-setting and accountability, they risk disengagement, burnout and reduced impact in their communities, especially when working with youth. The main aim of Be Aware is to empower 28 youth workers from 9 partner countries to enhance their personal and social competences, so that they can transfer these capacities into their youth work practice and inspire young people to take initiative in their own lives. The specific objectives are: - To strengthen youth workers’ capacity to recognise behavioural patterns and limiting beliefs, so they can support young people in developing self-awareness. - To enhance mindful communication skills and active listening, enabling youth workers to reflect on language’s reality-shaping power, and to foster healthier, more inclusive relationships in their daily practice. - To build problem-solving competences and accountability, preparing youth workers to navigate challenging situations with confidence in personal and professional settings. - To provide goal-setting and mentoring tools that youth workers can directly transfer to young people, supporting them in creating and realising their own initiatives. - To cultivate initiative, cooperation and creativity, and to transfer these competences to partner organisations and into their everyday youth work practice. By implementing the BEAR project, we are directly targeting 28 youth workers, educators, and staff members of partner organisations, currently working with young people, being actively involved in youth work. Through trained youth workers, we want to reach local young people, who will gain access to innovative non-formal education tools by participating in BEAR follow-up actions, and partner organisations, which will benefit from increased capacity and new methodologies integrated into their youth work. Be Aware contributes to raising the quality of youth work practice by: - Equipping youth workers with transferable, practical competences directly applicable in their work with youth; - Building a transnational network of motivated practitioners committed to self-awareness, inclusion and youth empowerment; - Ensuring follow-up activities are carried out in all partner countries, BEAR method are integrated into NGOs, and the consortium members continue their collaboration to create new proposals, inspired by Be Aware.
