In Slovenia and in the partner countries, equestrian activities are often associated with privileged groups, while vulnerable young people usually do not have access to them due to socio-economic, geographical, and cultural barriers. However, working with horses has a particularly strong impact on vulnerable youth, as it fosters their personal development, strengthens social skills, and encourages responsibility. Through this project, we want to offer young people with fewer opportunities an experience that combines equestrian activities with youth work methods and non-formal learning, opening up a space for self-exploration, confidence-building, and developing a sense of belonging. The main aim of the project is to contribute to the social inclusion and personal development of vulnerable young people in a safe and supportive environment, where—through working with horses, peer collaboration, and intercultural experiences—they will strengthen their competences, develop empathy, and overcome personal and social barriers. The project pursues several interrelated objectives: Promoting social inclusion – enabling young people to enter an environment where, through teamwork, practical tasks, and supportive reflection, they will develop a sense of acceptance and belonging. Developing intercultural dialogue and tolerance – the inclusion of young people from different countries will help overcome stereotypes and prejudices while fostering an understanding of cultural differences. Personal development and competence-building – through participatory methods, work with horses, and reflection, young people will strengthen their confidence, communication and leadership skills, as well as their ability to collaborate. Participation and empowerment – young people will be actively involved in planning, implementing, and evaluating activities, thereby gaining experience in leadership, organization, and responsibility. Connecting with the local community – by involving volunteers, local residents, and families, we will provide young people with intergenerational and intercultural experiences that strengthen the sense of community. Access to equestrian activities – creating opportunities for young people to engage in a space that is usually financially and culturally difficult to access, enabling them to develop empathy, responsibility, and trust through work with horses. Fostering active citizenship and European values – the project will equip young people with experiences of solidarity, cooperation, and equality, which they can transfer into their local environments. The project is based on methods of non-formal learning, a participatory approach, and the inclusion of vulnerable groups. In this way, we aim to provide young people with a direct experience of learning through practice, create conditions for the development of their potential, and contribute to a more open, tolerant, and inclusive society.
