The MAIN GOAL of our project POP ART OF YOUTH is to directly CONNECT AND EMPOWER 21 YOUNG MEMBERS OF THE MIGRANT COMMUNITY, mostly belonging to ethnic minorities in the partner countries, aged 18 to 29, through project activities and a five-day youth exchange using POP ART METHODS and youth work practices in collaboration with partner organizations from Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, and Hungary. Pop art will serve as a TOOL FOR EXPRESSION, while addressing themes such as identity and migration, promoting EMPOWERMENT AND PARTICIPATION, and strengthening INTERCULTURAL DIALOGUE, TOLERANCE, AND SOLIDARITY. Through this, we aim to enhance participants’ inclusion, ability to express themselves, and intercultural understanding, contributing to greater personal growth and active engagement of young people in the community. Through the implementation of the youth exchange, we aim to achieve MULTILAYERED EFFECTS RANGING FROM THE DIRECT EMPOWERMENT OF YOUNG PEOPLE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF HIGHER QUALITY YOUTH WORK PRACTICES IN OUR ORGANIZATIONS AND LOCAL COMMUNITIES. Our starting point is the belief that youth work should create opportunities for young people, especially for those who are often excluded from international and participatory processes due to geographical, social, or cultural circumstances. Therefore, the project is designed to address the specific needs of young migrants and youth from rural areas while contributing to the development of INNOVATIVE METHODS that youth workers and organizations can continue to use in the future. The project aims to provide young people with a SAFE AND SUPPORTIVE SPACE WHERE THEY CAN EXPRESS THEIR IDENTITY, personal stories, and social messages through art – specifically POP ART. The artistic approach was chosen because it TRANSCENDS LANGUAGE AND CULTURAL BARRIERS, allowing participation even for those who find verbal discussions challenging. This gives youth work a NEW TOOL FOR INCLUDING VULNERABLE GROUPS, based on creativity, visual communication, and participatory methods. The project contributes to the expansion of youth work methodologies and strengthens the understanding of art as an EFFECTIVE YOUTH WORK MEDIUM. The project also aims to STRENGTHEN KEY COMPETENCES OF YOUNG PEOPLE, which are central to both Erasmus+ and youth work in general: social and civic competences, digital skills, intercultural understanding, and green competences. Youth work often targets the development of these skills, but opportunities are limited in rural areas. Through the youth exchange, youth work gains new approaches for teaching digital tools creatively (digital pop art), fostering environmental awareness through artistic actions (sustainability mural), and building participation with simulation methods and interactive approaches such as BUDDY LEARNING and INTERNATIONAL QUADRANGLES. In this way, the project directly contributes to youth work practice, providing a concrete example of how to achieve youth work goals in an INNOVATIVE, ATTRACTIVE, AND INCLUSIVE WAY. Another objective is to increase PARTICIPATION AND SELF-CONFIDENCE OF YOUNG PEOPLE FROM MULTIETHNIC AND RURAL BACKGROUNDS. In youth work, we often notice that these young people feel incompetent or less valued, reducing their willingness to participate. At the same time, we aim to strengthen the competences of youth workers and partner organizations. By using new methods (pop art, digital tools, green actions) and working in an international partnership, youth workers will gain new experiences, reflect on them, and transfer them to their local practices. This means that the project is not only focused on a one-time exchange but also on the LONG-TERM IMPROVEMENT OF YOUTH WORK QUALITY in all partner countries. Young people will be actively involved in reflection processes and the use of YOUTHPASS, enabling youth workers to deepen their understanding of documenting learning outcomes and supporting young people in self-reflection. With these goals, we aim to ensure that the project becomes a GOOD PRACTICE EXAMPLE, demonstrating how youth work can respond to the challenges faced by contemporary young people, especially those with fewer opportunities.
