Objectives

We live in a time that Joanna Macy calls The Great Turning – a time of great transition, when old systems collapse, nature suffers, social bonds unravel, and humanity stands at a crossroads: between the path of destruction or a culture that honors Life. Young people often carry the weight of this choice. Feelings of powerlessness, anxiety, and despair in the face of the ecological crisis diminish their courage to act, while at the same time they are the ones who feel the deepest call for change. Fool for Gaiais a space where art, nature, and human hearts meet again. The clown, with vulnerability and laughter, opens the space for honesty and community. Storytelling revives ancient wisdom of empathy and connection. Ludo pedagogy awakens the body, playfulness, and creativity. Horses, as highly sensitive and intuitive beings, act as mirrors of human authenticity and presence. Through direct encounters with them, participants will explore non-verbal communication, emotional awareness, and empathy – qualities essential both for youth work and for developing authentic storytelling and clowning practices. Terra-pia offers youth workers the chance to reflect on their own lives as interconnected with ecosystems, discovering how personal growth intertwines with nature. The project develops an innovative methodology that will enable 16 youth workers from Slovenia, Italy, France, and Germany to: -establish a deeper connection with nature and sense its interrelatedness, - foster authentic expression, creativity, and confidence, - acquire tools to support young people in times of ecological crisis, - use art, play, and work with horses as instruments for active citizenship and ecological advocacy. These methods will be integrated into practical workshops, reflective processes, and public artistic actions that unite creativity with ecology. Participants will co-create and refine the methods, evaluate their usefulness, and contribute personal stories, reflections, and photographs, which will shape an e-brochure as a lasting resource of inspiration and tools for youth work. Expected results: -16 youth workers trained in the methodology, each receiving a Youthpass certificate, - an e-brochure and video materials disseminated to at least 25 organizations and 125 individuals, - a public performance – a green clown parade – reaching the local community and media, - 80% of participants reporting a strengthened connection with nature and heightened sensitivity. Fool for Gaia is more than a project – it is an invitation to remember that life itself is play, and that through play we can create a culture of empathy, beauty, and responsibility for the Earth.
