Objectives

The mission of this project is to empower young people from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds to become active citizens, strengthen their sense of European belonging, and inspire social solidarity through hands-on international learning. By engaging Slovak, German and Ukrainian youth volunteers in a joint mobility in Stuttgart, the project responds to the need for more inclusive opportunities, intercultural dialogue, and awareness of sustainability challenges. A central focus is on food waste reduction and sustainable living. Participants will learn about innovative community practices such as food rescue initiatives, zero-waste cooking, and eco-friendly approaches to daily life. They will experience how sustainability can be integrated into community spaces and how environmental awareness connects with social solidarity. Through workshops, community visits, and peer-led activities, participants will gain practical skills in teamwork, leadership, and project creation, while broadening their perspectives on democracy, equality, sustainability, and European values. They will bring this knowledge back to their communities through local dissemination activities—such as zero-waste cooking lessons, awareness workshops, intercultural games, or community projects—ensuring the impact reaches far beyond the mobility itself. To accomplish during the mobility: International learning and connection to European Union: During the last day of mobility, all participants, in Slovak/German pairs, would be able to develop and deliver 10 minute activity about the the enviroment and food sustanibility, active citizenship, social solidarity or European Union. After participating in the “Democracy and Me” workshop, at least 80% of participants will show improved understanding of democratic principles and their link to the European Union (measured by comparing pre- and post-mobility questionnaires). During the worshop at least 10 participants will also identify one concrete (activity, workshop, project) action they can take to strengthen participation in their local community. Sustainibility and environment: All participants will take part in at least 2 practical workshop while visiting Food Rescue Community Foundations : Supp_optimal and Harry's lab, where they will collect, sort, and cook with rescued food, leading to an increase in their knowledge about food sustainability and food waste reduction as measured by a pre/post reflection activity. All participants would use green travel during the mobility, and bring their own reusable utensils, to actively include zero waste practices in the project. All participants would create a souvenir from by upcycling fabric with local roma and ukrainian community during the 4th day of mobility. Active citizenship and social solidarity: During the mobility, all 16 participants will visit at least 4 local community organisations in Stuttgart (MutZe intergenerational family cente, Mu-KiZ centre for roma families, Supp_optimal and Harry's Bude- organisations working toward food sustainibility and decreasing food poverty) and engage in interactive workshops with local young people, leading to an increased understanding of active citizenship and social solidarity. All 16 participants would gain an understanding of active citizenship through the AC workshop, and would be able to explain it in their own words, measured by a pre/post reflection activity. To accomplish as the result of the mobility: The project’s long-term mission is to foster a new generation of socially responsible, environmentally aware, and inclusive young leaders who are motivated to create positive change in their local communities and contribute to building a more sustainable and united Europe. By the end of the mobility, at least 16 participants (aged 13–20) from Slovakia and Germany, including youth with fewer opportunities, will have gained intercultural learning experience by spending 5 days together in Stuttgart, engaging in at least 5 structured intercultural workshops and activities. Each of the 16 participants (8 from Slovakia and 8 from Germany) will create at least one dissemination activity—either individually or in groups—within three months after the mobility. Activities will focus on the main objectives of the project: sustainability, intercultural learning, active citizenship, and European solidarity. At least 14 participants would succesfully receive their Youth pass, with improved skills, during the month after the mobility.
