The main goal of our project Sport IN, Stress OUT is to support young people in understanding the connection between physical activity, mental health, and the negative effects of digital overload. Many young people today spend too much time on their phones and online, which can result in stress, anxiety, and social isolation. Through this project, we will offer them a different experience where they can reconnect with nature, their bodies, and each other through sport, teamwork, and outdoor activities. From a youth work perspective, the project will promote healthy habits not only by organising physical activities but also by helping young people to reflect on their emotions and daily routines. Our workshops and reflection sessions will encourage participants to explore the impact of screen time and to discover how physical activity can be used as a tool to improve mental well-being. At the same time, the project will give youth workers new tools to better recognise signs of digital stress among young people and to apply tested non-formal methods in their future practice. A further objective is to strengthen teamwork, communication, and inclusion. Through group challenges, mindfulness walks, and a public flashmob, participants will learn to cooperate across cultures and support each other. Creative outputs such as podcasts and the flashmob will give young people a chance to express their voices in a fun and public way, raising awareness on mental health and screen addiction in their local communities and promoting active participation. The project will also focus on the development of personal competences such as self-awareness, emotional intelligence, creativity, and resilience. These are essential soft skills that will support participants in their education, careers, and personal lives. After the exchange, participants will return home more confident, motivated, and ready to share what they have learned through presentations, local workshops, and school activities. Sport IN, Stress OUT will combine sport, creativity, and non-formal learning to help young people live more balanced and healthy lives. It will also create lasting benefits for youth workers and organisations by providing them with innovative, youth-friendly methods that combine sport and mental health in everyday youth work practice. Our objectives: To raise awareness among young people about the impact of digital stress and screen addiction on their mental health and well-being. To promote physical activity and outdoor sports as a healthy way to reduce stress and improve mental balance. To encourage personal growth and emotional self-awareness through non-formal learning methods. Participants will explore new ways to manage emotions, build confidence, and share their experiences in a supportive group setting. To inspire young people to take active roles in their communities by promoting mental health and healthy lifestyles. The flashmob, podcasts and follow-up activities will help participants become peer ambassadors for balance between online and offline life.
