This youth exchange project, jointly implemented by organisations from Türkiye, Portugal, Hungary, Sweden, Slovenia, and Italy, seeks to enhance the digital competences, critical thinking, and creative potential of young people through non-formal education and intercultural learning. In alignment with the European Commission’s Digital Education Action Plan (2021–2027) and the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange priorities on digital transformation, inclusion and diversity, participation in democratic life, and the promotion of European values, the project will empower young participants as responsible, active and critically thinking digital citizens. Specifically, the project aims to reduce the growing digital divide among young people by strengthening their capacities in digital literacy, online safety, data protection, AI and data ethics, and digital content creation. It will also support youth organisations in embedding these topics into their regular youth work practice, thereby increasing their institutional capacity and innovation potential. The initiative responds to the Erasmus+ priority of digital transformation by equipping participants with transversal digital competences based on the European Digital Competence Framework (DigComp), while fostering active citizenship and participation, especially among youth who face fewer opportunities in their local communities. Using non-formal and peer-to-peer methodologies, the project will create a safe and inclusive learning space where young people from diverse cultural backgrounds can collaboratively produce digital awareness campaigns, explore the ethical and social implications of AI, and reflect on safe and sustainable behaviours in the digital environment. The involvement of youth from Türkiye, Portugal, Hungary, Sweden, Slovenia, and Italy will also strengthen intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding, directly contributing to the Erasmus+ objective of building a sense of European identity and solidarity among young people. Ultimately, the project will contribute to the quality and innovation of youth work in Europe by developing a transferable model for integrating digital competence training into youth exchange activities, and by establishing long-term transnational cooperation among the participating organisations beyond the project’s lifetime.
