Objectives

The main objective of the project is to keep young people away from digital dependency, foster their environmental awareness, and encourage them to adopt sustainable lifestyle practices. With the rapid rise of digitalization in today’s world, young people's connection with nature is weakening, and the time they spend in front of screens during their leisure hours is steadily increasing. This trend poses a threat both to individual well-being and to broader societal environmental consciousness. As part of the project, a total of 22 participants—including 20 students and 2 group leaders from Türkiye and Bulgaria—will take part in nature-based, cultural, and physical recreational activities in the natural, historical, and cultural settings of Istanbul. Throughout the project, participants will: - Reflect on the personal and environmental impacts of digitalization and generate potential solutions, - Improve their mental and physical well-being through recreational activities (nature walks, rowing, environmental clean-up, cultural explorations, etc.), - Enhance their leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills through group-based activities, - Interact with different cultures to develop empathy and experience cultural tolerance within a European context, - Gain lasting competences toward becoming environmentally conscious individuals who embrace sustainable green living. The project is aligned with the core principles of the EU Youth Strategy—engage, connect, and empower—and supports young people’s active participation, environmental responsibility, and personal growth. Through hands-on experience, young people will discover that a life closer to nature and people—away from screens—is possible and will be encouraged to take action toward green transformation in their own communities. In addition, it is expected that the students selected from the Faculty of Sport Sciences will gain competencies in areas such as combating digital addiction, environmental awareness, cultural sensitivity, and team-based leadership skills, which will make them more equipped individuals in their post-graduation employment processes and provide a competitive advantage in the labor market.
