Objectives

-In the Mediterranean region, forest fires pose a serious threat both to the ecosystem and to social life. Our project aims to raise awareness among young people about these risks and ensure that they develop responsible behavior. -Participants will receive theoretical training on the causes of forest fires, risk factors, prevention, and intervention methods. In this way, young people will gain knowledge about fire management and become prepared for crisis situations. -Our project plans to correct young people's misconceptions about fires and to strengthen the correct practices and what needs to be done before/during/after fires both theoretically and practically. In order to obtain valid outcomes, pre-tests and post-tests will be conducted for measurability before and after the project; the development of participants will be examined in percentage terms (for example, at least 80% of participants will show improvement in the knowledge test about forest fires). -Through fieldwork and drills, participants will practically experience the measures that can be taken against fires; they will also develop problem-solving, crisis management, and teamwork skills. -The project encourages young people to take an active role and develop their leadership skills. Participants will take responsibility in activities, organize awareness campaigns, and disseminate what they have learned within their own communities. -By bringing together young people from different Mediterranean countries, intercultural learning opportunities will be created; young people will develop international solidarity, cooperation, and tolerance skills. -Our project will be more inclusive by prioritizing the participation of young people living in rural areas, those who are economically disadvantaged, or those directly affected by disasters. -Young people living in different Mediterranean countries share similar climatic conditions and fire risks. In particular, within the framework of this project, the partners involved consist of people located in the regions closest to the latitudes where forest fires occur most frequently in the Mediterranean countries most afflicted by them. -The project aims to enable participants to develop sustainable behaviors. Young people will apply what they have learned in their own countries and communities, spreading awareness of forest fires and environmental protection. -Capacity building of partner organizations is also an important objective of the project. The experiences of Antalya Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports will be shared; partners will be able to continue similar training and awareness activities in their own countries. -The measurable impact of the project results will be evaluated through the increase in participants’ knowledge and awareness levels, their active involvement in practices, and the awareness-raising activities they will carry out in their communities. -Finally, the project aims to enhance the environmental awareness and preparedness of young people against forest fires at both regional and European levels, seeking to create long-term impact at both individual and societal levels. -This project has been designed in direct alignment with the youth priorities shaping the future of Europe. The main focus of our project is to address in synergy the European Youth Goals #3 “Inclusive Societies” and #10 “Sustainable Green Europe.” Our aim is to empower young people in climate action and sustainable living, while including their peers at risk of social exclusion in the process. In this way, we aim not only to contribute to environmental sustainability, but also to build a more inclusive and fair society for all.
