Objectives

Due to cultural differences, peer bullying and the lack of sufficient cultural empathy in digital environments make young people increasingly insensitive to cultural values. Especially on social media platforms, young people are exposed to negative discourse related to language, race, and cultural differences. This leads to reduced sensitivity towards cultural diversity and weakens their ability to empathize. Within the scope of our project, we aim to bring together young people from different cultures, increasing their cultural interaction and enabling them to both present their own culture and learn about others. At this point, a presentation workshop where they prepare materials to introduce their cultures, followed by cultural presentations, will directly contribute to both self-expression and cross-cultural learning. In this way, young people will better understand each other, strengthen their intercultural empathy skills, and contribute to the process of social cohesion. The first goal of our project is to strengthen cultural interaction among young people. Through icebreaker games that include traditional street games, participants will share common experiences and learn from one another. Our second goal is to contribute to the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage. For this purpose, visits are planned to Aigai, the Mesir Museum, and Kurşunlu Han, as well as landmarks such as the Clock Tower and the Historical Elevator in İzmir. Our third goal is to develop intercultural empathy and build connections through shared values. This will be achieved by experiencing traditional dishes such as Manisa Kebabı and Boyoz in İzmir, thus making cultural bonding more tangible. Finally, our fourth goal is to organize a cultural exhibition via a website, allowing young people to share their artistic and cultural productions. This objective will be supported with activities such as AI training and creating visuals with artificial intelligence, helping to enhance their digital skills. We aim to strengthen diversity by bringing together young people from different European countries. The project will contribute to young people’s exploration of their own identities, learning about other cultures, and gaining a global perspective. For example, Portuguese youth will introduce Lisbon’s Santo António Festival and Porto’s São João Celebrations, while Dutch youth will present King’s Day (Koningsdag) celebrations, traditional cheese markets, and sailing boat festivals—creating an environment for cultural exchange. In this way, not only will common values be shared, but personal identity exploration will also be supported. We will provide young people with opportunities to enhance their creativity, strengthen their artistic skills, and express their culture in unique ways. Activities such as AI-based visual production and cultural presentation workshops will help them discover their aesthetic and emotional sides, enabling them to express themselves more powerfully. The cultural exhibition organized through the website will allow young people to share their works and cultures on an international platform. Thus, they will not only interact within their own communities but also with peers from other countries, fostering intercultural dialogue. This will also help build a sense of global community and shared understanding. Our project encourages young people to understand cultural diversity, respect differences, and learn from them. Throughout the project, participants will gain strong communication skills, teamwork experience, and problem-solving abilities—preparing them to be open to international collaboration in the future. In this way, the project will contribute to the development of young people who are culturally sensitive and capable of generating sustainable solutions not only at the individual level but also at the societal level.
