Objectives

This project aims to support young people's social integration processes through the unifying and transformative power of art. Implemented under the leadership of Mardin Artuklu University and with the support of the Mardin Governorship, the project will enable young people to express their diverse cultural identities through art, in collaboration with international partners from France and Belgium. Mardin's multicultural structure, which has been home to different civilizations throughout history, provides a strong foundation for the project, creating a natural learning environment that encourages participants to view diversity as a source of richness. The project will include icebreakers, group dynamics activities, artistic and social workshops, cultural productions, performing arts, techno-art workshops, eco-art workshops (and a general detox camp), traditional crafts, and cultural observation activities. Participants will keep artistic diaries, thereby both personalizing their learning processes and contributing to the quality of the project outputs. This method is fully in line with the fundamental principles of Erasmus+ youth work: non-formal learning, active participation, and volunteering. By implementing this project, the specific aim is to showcase and promote the example of social cohesion in the province of Mardin, while the broader goal is to pave the way for young people to adapt this example to other European cities. In this context, workshops based on widespread teaching techniques, designed to cater to a variety of skills and allowing participants to play an active role at every stage, have been developed in collaboration with partners. Furthermore, the inclusion of culturally disadvantaged young people in the project will strengthen the principles of inclusivity and equality. It is expected that differences will be expressed through art, prejudices will be broken down, and solidarity will be increased. Thus, intercultural dialogue among young people will be supported, and a contribution will be made to social cohesion efforts at the European level. The project will systematically encourage young people to disseminate their Erasmus+ experiences locally, thereby laying the groundwork for them to develop their active citizenship awareness, social responsibilities, and a sustainable culture of coexistence.
