Objectives

The main aim of the project is to ensure that young people internalise environmental and sustainability issues not only at the level of knowledge, but also in terms of attitudes and behaviours. This goal goes beyond a traditional environmental education approach and is framed through the perspective of youth work. Young people will take part in a process where they can raise their voices, share their ideas and take responsibility. In this way, the objectives of the project cover both ecological awareness and the personal, social, and cultural development of the participants. First, the project aims to raise the environmental awareness of young people. Topics such as climate change, biodiversity loss, energy use and waste management will be addressed through workshops, field observations and creative activities. The purpose is not only to provide theoretical knowledge, but also to equip young people with practical habits they can apply in everyday life. Experiencing recycling practices, adopting water and energy saving habits, or discovering a zero-waste approach will help them integrate environmentally friendly lifestyles into their routines. Secondly, the project aims to strengthen young people’s participation and active citizenship. In the Youth Eco-Council simulation, participants will experience decision-making processes, defend their ideas and develop joint solutions. This will not only allow them to understand environmental issues but also to take active roles in generating solutions. They will learn to respect different opinions, embrace the culture of compromise, and grasp the importance of democratic processes in practice. A third objective is to support young people’s creativity and self-expression. Through rap performances, theatre workshops, visual arts and digital campaigns on environmental themes, participants will find opportunities to express themselves freely. These activities will help them explore new ways of expression, gain self-confidence, and communicate environmental messages effectively. Artistic outputs will also allow environmental awareness to reach wider audiences in an engaging way. Another important goal is to improve participants’ digital competences. By using tools such as Canva, CapCut, Padlet and Soundtrap to produce content and design social media campaigns, they will not only use technology more consciously but also strengthen their digital citizenship. They will enhance their ability to access information, create content and think critically, becoming more capable both individually and socially. The project also aims to foster intercultural learning. Young people from Turkey, Greece, Italy, Hungary and Kosovo will work together with peers from different cultures and backgrounds, learning to see diversity as an asset. Producing together across different social, cultural and economic contexts will help them develop empathy, tolerance, and solidarity. The process will also contribute to lasting friendships among European youth and the reduction of prejudices. Another objective is to increase young people’s awareness of their own learning. Through Youthpass, learning diaries and daily reflection sessions, participants will identify the competences they are developing, discover their strengths and consider how they can use these skills in the future. This will improve their “learning to learn” capacity and enhance their motivation for lifelong learning. In addition, the project expects participants to become role models in their own communities after the exchange. They will share their experiences with peers, families and local institutions, multiplying the impact. Some will take on leadership roles in school eco-clubs, while others will continue to run environmental campaigns on social media. This will strengthen their sense of volunteering, develop leadership competences, and foster a culture of solidarity. From the perspective of youth work, the S.E.E.D. project is not only an environmental education initiative; it is also a learning space where young people build self-confidence, learn to collaborate, express their creativity, take responsibility for social issues, and experience participation in democratic processes. This experience will support their personal growth while also helping them become active citizens who can create change in their communities.
