Development of disadvantaged rural and urban areas

Objectives

The Main Purpose of Our Project This project aims to draw attention to the environmental injustices caused by the “heat island effect” experienced in cities and to contribute to the development of inclusive, fair, and sustainable urban areas with the participation of socially, economically, or geographically disadvantaged young people. Our project aims to raise awareness of environmental and climate justice at both the local and international levels through youth workers and participants with limited opportunities. Specific Objectives Raising Awareness on Heat Island Effect and Social Inequalities: Ensuring participants are informed about the heat island effect in cities and its unequal impacts on different social groups; highlighting the challenges faced by low-income, elderly, disabled, and migrant individuals in particular. Developing Equitable and Sustainable Urban Planning Skills: Support youth workers and participants in designing more balanced and sustainable urban solutions by considering the principles of justice and inclusivity in urban planning processes. Empowering Participants with Limited Opportunities: Enabling young people with social, economic, and geographical limitations to gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to play an active role in addressing environmental issues; encouraging them to become leaders who can raise awareness in their own communities. Enhancing the Professional Capacities of Youth Workers: Providing youth workers with both theoretical and practical knowledge in the areas of environmental justice, climate change, and inclusive youth work throughout the project, thereby strengthening their ability to carry out innovative and effective projects within their own organizations. International Cooperation and Experience Sharing: To encourage the sharing of knowledge and experience among partner organizations from Turkey, Spain, Poland, Hungary, Italy, and Bulgaria; to ensure the long-term applicability of the methods and results developed throughout the project. Dissemination of Results and Sustainable Impact: Ensure that the outputs and gains achieved at the end of the project are not limited to participants and partners, but are shared with a wider youth network and society, creating long-lasting and replicable impacts. Importance of the Project Our project aims to increase awareness and capacity for action at the local level against climate change by equipping participants and youth workers with environmental justice-based knowledge and skills. This will enable youth actors from different countries to work together to develop local solutions to the global problem of the climate crisis and support sustainable, inclusive urban living spaces.
