Objectives

A. GENERAL OBJECTIVES The project “Connecting on Common Ground: Intergenerational Cooperation for Empathy, Justice and Participation” (CONNECT) aims to strengthen the capacities of youth workers to effectively address challenges arising from intergenerational disconnection, such as unfair distribution of tasks, weaponised incompetence, invisible labour, digital competence gaps, and the lack of empathetic leadership. By equipping participants with practical and easily transferable methods, the project seeks to foster more inclusive, fair, and participatory learning environments in daily youth work. In doing so, it will support young people’s active participation in decision-making processes, strengthen social inclusion, and empower young people. Ultimately, CONNECT will generate sustainable impact on youth work both locally and across Europe. B. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES (from a Youth Work Perspective) 1. Strengthening the capacities of youth workers a) Identifying challenges in intergenerational communication and cooperation. b) Developing skills to address invisible labour, weaponised incompetence, empathetic leadership, and fair distribution of tasks. 2. Enabling youth workers and youth leaders to learn new methods, tools, and approaches a) Experiencing non-formal education methods adapted from the Compass Manual and the SALTO Toolbox. b) Developing digital competences by using accessible tools such as Miro, Mentimeter, Padlet, and Canva – bridging intergenerational digital gaps on common ground. 3. Supporting youth workers and youth leaders in transferring project learnings into their daily practice a) Applying fair task-sharing and empathetic leadership approaches in youth projects. b) Testing and implementing new methods in local youth activities. c) Creating inclusive non-formal learning environments that empower young people. d) Enabling young people’s active involvement in decision-making and responsibility-sharing processes. 4. Enhancing the long-term capacity and quality of youth organisations’ regular activities a) Increasing the quality of institutional practices through project partnerships, peer-learning, and training. b) Strengthening international networks and ensuring sustainable partnerships for future Erasmus+ projects through inter-organisational cooperation. The complementary expertise of partner organisations – such as IRASE’s academic quality assurance, CODEC’s policy communication, JumpIN Hub’s capacity for innovative tools, and ISSF’s inclusion-focused practices – will foster mutual learning and institutional development throughout the project.
