Objectives

By implementing this project, we aim to strengthen the trauma-informed competencies of youth workers and professionals who work with adolescents at risk or in vulnerable conditions across Europe. Our goal is to increase their capacity to recognize, respond to, and prevent trauma-related behaviors and experiences in youth settings, especially those connected to mental health challenges, substance abuse, child neglect, and risky behaviors such as suicidal ideation. The project also seeks to foster cross-sectoral collaboration and innovation between youth organizations, health professionals, social workers, psychologists, legal experts, and governmental institutions through a multidisciplinary approach. The project titled "Empowering Youth Workers through Trauma-Informed Interventions in Youth Work" will be implemented in Türkiye over the course of 8 days between 19-26 April 2026. It will include 36 participants and 4 experienced facilitators from Türkiye, Germany, and Romania. Participants will be youth workers, psychologists, social workers, medical professionals, legal experts, and NGO representatives who work with adolescents. They will come from various organizations that are directly involved in youth work and protection. This activity aims to improve the quality and innovation of youth work by introducing trauma-informed tools, methods, and practices. Through interactive sessions, role-playing, psychodrama-based techniques, real-case workshops, and peer-learning, participants will gain applicable knowledge and skills in trauma-sensitive communication, protective behavior reinforcement, and psychosocial support. They will also collaborate in developing new strategies for responding to emerging youth-related issues at local and European levels. By creating a network of trained youth professionals, the project will contribute to building long-term partnerships and preparing the groundwork for future large-scale Erasmus+ KA2 and Horizon projects. The outcomes will align with Erasmus+ Youth goals by increasing the recognition of youth work, improving youth professionals’ competencies, and contributing to EU youth policy priorities such as inclusion, mental well-being, and cross-sectoral cooperation.
