From our youth work practice, we see more and more young people who are constantly active, connected, and expected to perform, yet emotionally exhausted, disconnected from themselves, and unsure how to slow down. Many struggle with stress, anxiety, and pressure, but lack safe spaces where they can express these feelings without judgment. At the same time, youth work is often expected to respond quickly, while what young people actually need is time, presence, and meaningful human connection. This project was created as a response to that reality. It offers a learning space where young people can step out of noise and pressure and reconnect with themselves, with others, and with nature through experience-based, non-formal learning. The project uses nature, movement, and reflection as core youth work tools. Hiking becomes more than physical activity; it becomes a framework for learning resilience, awareness, and balance. Through shared outdoor experiences, reflection circles, creative expression, and peer support, young people learn by doing, feeling, and reflecting together. From a youth work perspective, this approach strengthens self-awareness, emotional literacy, cooperation, and trust, while creating a safe and inclusive environment that supports personal growth at each participant’s own pace. The objectives of the project are: 1. To help participants develop mental and emotional resilience through nature-based practices 2. To explore the connection between physical movement and mental health using hiking as a non-formal learning method 3. To provide young people with practical tools for emotional awareness, mindfulness, and stress regulation 4. To promote a culture of openness around mental well-being, reflection, and vulnerability in youth work 5. To create a safe and inclusive space where participants can share personal experiences and support each other 6. To encourage digital detox and reduce reliance on social media for validation and connection 7. To foster intercultural dialogue and meaningful friendships through shared outdoor experiences 8. To co-create creative and reflective content that can be shared locally and inspire other young people 9. To contribute to the objectives of the Erasmus+ programme by supporting mental health, inclusion, and quality learning through innovative, nature-based non-formal education methods By implementing this project, we want to achieve more than a successful Youth Exchange. We want to offer young people an experience that stays with them, changes how they listen to themselves, and gives them tools they can use in everyday life. From a youth work perspective, the purpose of this project is to strengthen well-being, agency, and connection in a way that is human, accessible, and sustainable, while showing that learning can happen through movement, silence, and shared experience, not only through words.
