The MEP makes an active contribution to implementing the youth participation promise enshrined in Article 165 of the EU Treaty. In doing so, we address deficits and needs of young people in the areas of participation, democracy, and Europe, specifically: Limited knowledge about EU institutions, participation opportunities, and practical experience; Lack of platforms for intercultural exchange; Declining trust in democratic processes. By engaging with youth-relevant topics, participants actively contribute to European political processes. In this way, we strengthen European awareness as well as democratic understanding. Empowerment opens pathways to active engagement and co-creation. A targeted learning process promotes their decision-making and action competencies. Overall, the MEP strengthens the resilience of young people and our societies in the face of current crises and anti-democratic tendencies.
