This project wants to equip youth workers from the partner organisations with the knowledge, skills and methodologies needed to design and implement non-formal education activities combining critical reflection on gender inequality with creative, art-based practices. By integrating art into youth work, we want to engage young people in an innovative, accessible, and creative way, encouraging them to explore and challenge patriarchal oppression, express themselves creatively, and take an active role in advocating for gender equality. The project seeks to strengthen the capacity of youth workers to empower young people to advocate for gender equality , providing them with practical and creative non-formal education tools to design and deliver workshops on art-ivism as a tool to raise awareness on gender oppression, challenge power dynamics and foster youth-led advocacy. The use of art in this context is particularly innovative because it offers an accessible and universal language that can reach young people who may not engage with traditional educational methods. Art-based methodologies allow participants to express ideas, question social norms, and explore personal and collective experiences in ways that are interactive, motivating, and empowering, and therefore, are directly linked to non-formal education practices. Youth workers play a crucial role in guiding young people to critically engage with these processes. However, many lack practical tools and methodologies to combine art and activism effectively. This project aims to fill that gap by building the capacity of youth workers to deliver non-formal education activities on how to use art-ivism to promote gender equality, inclusion, and participation, enabling young people to use art as a powerful tool for advocacy, gender equality and social change. Therefore, the aim of the project is to strengthen the capacity of youth workers to use art-based methodologies and creative practices as tools for non-formal education, advocacy and youth participation, with a particular focus on advancing gender equality. More specifically, the project wants to increase youth workers’ understanding about current patriarchal oppression and gender stereotypes and equip them with art-based methodologies and tools to engage young people in the creation of art-ivism campaigns to promote gender equality. As a result, the project will enhance their competences to facilitate inclusive, feminist and intersectional workshops using art and non-formal education. The objectives of the project are: • Strengthen youth workers’ understanding of how patriarchal oppression, gender stereotypes, and power dynamics affect young people in the pilot countries, across Europe, and beyond. • Build youth workers’ capacity to critically analyse gender equality issues and its currrent backlash, together with its social, cultural, and political manifestations. • Equip youth workers with practical art-based and creative methods to engage young people in non-formal education activities on advocacy and gender equality. • Enhance youth workers’ competences to facilitate inclusive, feminist, and intersectional learning spaces for young people. • Promote the use of art as a participatory and advocacy tool, enabling young people to express themselves creatively and challenge gender inequality. • Strengthen organisational capacity and sustainability, enabling partner organisations to train additional youth workers and reach a wider group of young people. • Create innovative, creative, accessible, and sustainable outputs that support the ongoing learning and professional development of youth workers and that allow young people worldwide to engage in the topic.
