The main objective of the project is to empower young people to become conscious, responsible, and active actors in addressing the growing problem of digital waste and unsustainable digital consumption through non-formal education, experiential learning, and peer-led community action. From the perspective of youth work practice, the project aims to go beyond awareness raising by supporting young people in developing practical competences, critical thinking, and long-term behavioural change related to sustainable digital habits. A key objective is to increase young people’s understanding of the environmental, social, and economic impacts of both physical e-waste and digital waste, including energy consumption linked to cloud storage, unnecessary data accumulation, and frequent device replacement. Through interactive workshops, expert inputs, and hands-on digital clean-up activities, participants will gain concrete knowledge that can be directly applied in their daily lives. Another central objective is to strengthen young people’s digital literacy in a sustainability context. Participants will learn how to manage digital data responsibly, use technology more efficiently, protect digital resources, and apply digital tools in environmentally friendly ways. This includes developing skills in digital organisation, online collaboration, and conscious digital consumption. From a youth work practice perspective, the project aims to foster active participation, initiative-taking, and leadership among young people. Participants will be involved in planning activities, facilitating sessions, creating awareness materials, and leading dissemination actions in their local communities. This approach will support the development of self-confidence, teamwork, communication skills, and a sense of responsibility for social and environmental issues. The project also aims to promote intercultural learning and European values by bringing together young people from different countries and backgrounds. Through mixed-group work, cultural exchange activities, and collaborative problem-solving, participants will develop openness, respect for diversity, and the ability to cooperate across cultures while working towards a common environmental goal. An additional objective is to strengthen young people’s engagement in local communities by encouraging them to act as multipliers after the exchange. Through workshops, school presentations, digital campaigns, and peer-to-peer activities, participants will spread sustainable digital practices and environmental awareness among other young people, contributing to wider social impact. Finally, the project aims to support long-term youth empowerment by linking sustainability with active citizenship. Participants will reflect on how individual behaviour connects to global environmental challenges and European sustainability strategies. This will motivate them to continue participating in youth initiatives, environmental actions, and future Erasmus+ projects. Overall, the project seeks to create informed, skilled, motivated, and socially responsible young people who are capable of adopting sustainable digital lifestyles and influencing positive change within their communities through youth work methodologies.
