Objectives

The main objective of the project “Digital democracy: Youth voices online!” is to enable young people to become active and responsible digital citizens who understand the mechanisms of democracy in the online space in this new digital era and can meaningfully participate in decision-making processes at local, national and European levels. The project will be implemented in Pazardzhik, Bulgaria, from 19 to 28 October 2026, with the participation of young people and leaders from Türkiye, Slovakia, Romania, Portugal and Greece. This will provide a rich intercultural environment and exchange of good practices between six different countries. The exchange aims to equip them with the necessary knowledge, skills and motivation to use digital platforms not only for communication and entertainment, but also as a tool for social change, civic participation and protection of common European values. We aim to stimulate their critical thinking, build their skills in recognizing disinformation and broaden their understanding of basic civil rights online and the possibilities for using digital tools. To achieve this, we have formulated the following sub-objectives of the project: 1.Raising awareness among young people about their civil rights and opportunities for participation in democratic life, including through online petitions, public consultations and digital campaigns at EU level. Digital democracy is not just about publishing an opinion online, but active participation, engagement and the search for solutions that contribute to a fairer and more sustainable society; 2.Developing digital and media literacy - participants will learn to critically analyze online content, recognize disinformation, cyberbullying, fake news and hate speech, and understand the impact of algorithms and artificial intelligence on public attitudes; 3.Strengthening critical thinking and problem-solving skills through simulations, debates and case studies that mimic real democratic processes; 4.Stimulating creativity and entrepreneurship by providing young people with the opportunity to design and implement their own online campaigns and civic initiatives on topics that interest them (artificial intelligence, ecology, equality, mental health, youth rights); 5.Creating a "DIGITAL DEMOCRACY HANDBOOK" - a practical guide prepared by the participants, including good practices, tips and tools for active civic participation online, which will be disseminated in the partner countries and at the European level. 6.Promoting intercultural dialogue and solidarity between young people from different countries and social backgrounds in order to strengthen the sense of belonging to the pan-European community - this in turn will promote tolerance and respect for different points of view through working in international teams and exchanging experiences; 7.Supporting social inclusion through active engagement of young people with fewer opportunities - from rural areas, with limited access to technology and education or social and economic barriers, as well as such representatives of marginalized groups - including ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, people with special educational needs /people with disabilities/; 8.Developing communication, leadership and team skills through group projects, joint decision-making and mutual learning, through practical workshops and simulations, in which they will create their own campaigns and media content; 9.Creating sustainable youth networks for future cooperation and follow-up initiatives to build on the results of the project. 10.Promoting awareness and recognition of learning through the use of Youthpass and the European Key Competences, so that participants can understand and present their achievements. 11.Creating a multiplier effect - participants will become ambassadors of digital democracy, who will share what they have learned with their peers and initiate events and trainings in their local communities, by promoting the Erasmus+ program in the local community and sharing the experience and results of the project in order to engage more young people in future initiatives. The project responds to the priorities of the Erasmus+ program by promoting the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities, supporting the development of skills important for their future - digital literacy, social and civic competences - and creating conditions for building active European citizens. Through the set objectives, and addressing Objective №3 of the European Youth Strategy 2019-2027, we believe that participants will become ambassadors of digital democracy in their communities, share their experience with their peers, inspire them, and start initiatives that have a real impact on the environment in which they live. In the long term, the project aims to build a network of young leaders who will continue to work on the topic and pass on their knowledge and skills.
