The main objective of the project is to build on the competencies of youth workers by integrating gamification as an innovative and sustainable method in youth work. Today, young people face many distractions and challenges, which hinders their active involvement in socially significant initiatives. Gamification—the transformation of educational activities, workshops, and causes into a process that combines play, fun, intellectual stimulation, and reflection—is a proven approach to retaining attention, encouraging activity, and facilitating the acquisition of new knowledge and skills. Through the Play to Engage: Gamification in Youth Work project, we aim to: support youth workers in developing skills to apply gamification in their daily practice; create structured strategies and tools for gamification that can be used in both traditional and digital formats; encourage the use of digital applications and artificial intelligence in gamified activities to make the process more relevant and engaging for young people; develop key skills in young people through game-based approaches – critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork, communication, creativity, and social responsibility; build a sustainable network of youth workers and organizations that exchange experiences, practices, and challenges and together develop innovations in youth work. The project aims to change the approach to youth work – from traditional knowledge transfer to active, interactive and motivating learning, in which young people are not just listeners, but active participants and creators of meaning.
