Objectives

We have identified a need to address challenges for young people in our community and those of our partners around skills for employability and confidence building. They lack practice in team working, critical thinking, communication, taking initiative and wider digital communication. We want to take ourselves and our partners to a higher level by linking community action projects and future youth participation activities. We want to promote intercultural dialogue and break down prejudices and stereotypes to help cohesion in our own community and those of our partners. We want to set tasks and problems to be solved to benefit the young people and help with future employment. We intend to use this project as a best practice example of active participation of young people to promote future exchanges and to start a process which will continue to support disadvantaged young people from different backgrounds, cultures and nationalities. We want to achieve this using all the expertise and tools at our disposal to create an inclusive and diverse environment to learn and to grow in confidence. We want young people to be able to return home after the exchange with a desire and an ability to tell their story, to communicate better and give themselves greater life chances in employment and the community. Objectives of the project include: - Empowering young people as active agents of change and to develop Community Action skills. - Support for personal development of disadvantaged young people through life skills training specifically looking at communication, creativity, and critical thinking to assist with future employment. - Support for building teams and networks throughout the phases of the project including online contact between participants prior to the actual exchange. - Promoting active participation of young people in considering best learning methods for themselves. - Involve young people in all the lead up to the exchange looking at language, culture, and task related preparation. - Create a support network and an alumni organisation for future youth initiatives and preparation of Erasmus Plus Youth Participation Events for each country.
