We see, in our daily work with young people, how often they struggle to defend their own opinions, resist peer pressure, or even recognize situations where they should set personal boundaries. Many of them, especially those from vulnerable backgrounds, do not feel confident enough to say “no” when it matters, whether it is about refusing harmful behaviors, avoiding manipulative relationships, or standing up for their own values in front of peers. Our main aim is to strengthen the capacity of youth workers to empower young people with practical assertiveness skills, enabling them to resist harmful influences, defend their rights, and develop into confident, resilient, and active members of society. In order to achieve this aim, we set four main objectives: – To design and test creative learning methods, such as theatre, improvisation, and humor-based workshops, that make assertiveness training engaging and memorable. – To equip youth workers with practical tools and exercises that they can immediately transfer to their local activities with young people. – To foster intercultural exchange of practices between organizations so that methods are adapted to different realities while keeping the same empowering spirit. – To produce a visible outcome—a “Stand Up for Yourself” guidebook and digital resource kit, that multiplies the project’s impact and reaches youth workers and organizations beyond the partnership.
