Objectives

The project Be Europe, Be United is designed as a comprehensive European professional development initiative for youth workers, focusing on strengthening their capacity to prevent, recognise & address social exclusion & discrimination through high-quality non-formal education practices. Responding to the contemporary social challenges faced by young people across Europe, the project seeks to transform the European values of human dignity, equality, diversity & participation into concrete professional competences applied in everyday youth work practice. From the perspective of youth work practice, the project does not limit itself to theoretical awareness-raising, but places strong emphasis on the systematic development of skills, tools & attitudes that enable youth workers to create safe, inclusive & empowering learning spaces for all young people, especially those with fewer opportunities. The current social reality in Europe is characterised by growing inequalities, multiple forms of discrimination, economic insecurity, geographical disparities & emerging forms of marginalisation that directly affect young people’s quality of life & future prospects. At the same time, many youth workers report limited readiness to address complex situations of social exclusion due to the lack of specialised methodologies, updated tools & structured opportunities for transnational exchange of good practices. The project Be Europe, Be United responds to this gap by strengthening the professional competences of 40 youth workers from 8 Programme countries to develop effective communication, inclusion & empowerment strategies for young people. The overarching goal of the project is to develop strong communication & intercultural competences that support the creation of inclusive learning environments & the active participation of all young people. At operational level, the project aims: & to increase youth workers’ knowledge about the causes, forms & consequences of social exclusion, & to strengthen practical skills through experimentation with non-formal education methods, & to foster attitudes of empathy, responsibility & professional self-confidence, & to enhance the capacity to design interventions based on the real needs of young people. From the perspective of youth work practice, the project seeks to support a shift from the role of the youth worker as a simple activity facilitator to that of a conscious facilitator of social change. Participants will develop the ability to identify invisible forms of exclusion, adapt their methods to different youth profiles & design activities that strengthen voice, self-expression & active participation. The project foresees the involvement of youth workers with different levels of experience, including newcomers & less experienced organisations, ensuring mutual learning & transfer of expertise. At the same time, it promotes gender balance, diversity of profiles & the active participation of youth workers who work directly with young people with fewer opportunities. The educational design of the Training Course is based on experiential, participatory & cooperative learning principles. It combines theoretical input on inclusion with practical application through workshops, simulations, role-plays, group processes & peer exchange. Special emphasis is placed on reflective learning, daily evaluation & the linking of learning outcomes to the Key Competences for Lifelong Learning & Youthpass. The project also aims to develop collective outputs, such as a digital toolbox of inclusive methods & an e-book of good practices, which will support the continuous professional development of youth workers beyond the lifetime of the project. Through local dissemination activities, participants will transfer the acquired knowledge to their organisations & communities, thus strengthening the project’s multiplier effect. Be Europe, Be United aspires to act as a catalyst for more inclusive, democratic & empowering youth work practice across Europe. By investing in the people who work directly with young people, the project strengthens the capacity of youth organisations to respond to complex social challenges & to translate European values into everyday practice. Through competence development, partnership-building & sustainable use of results, the project contributes to the creation of a Europe where every young person feels that they belong, are heard & have equal opportunities to grow.
