Objectives

By implementing the project we want to offer young people gain stress management skills and gaining future stress resilience through a youth exchange where they will develop their personal resilience routine plans. The target group is aged 18-25, students and young people with fewer opportunities, also young people that are unemployed and or coming from rural and remote areas, facing difficulties and barriers in avoiding, facing and reducing stress. The objective is to provide young adults of this target group the opportunity to overcome knowledge gap, stigma around mental health and stress management, the financial and geographical barriers, and lack of education about this topic in formal education facilities in learning about this topic in a nonformal setting. The goal is to provide them with the opportunity to co-create an international mobility that will help them get stress resilient through exchanging coping practices and methods among each other and to explore and test new methods and tools. That will be done through opening the discussion and emphasizing the topic and its importance, building their personal resilience routine plans, hands on learning, peer to peer learning, sharing with peers and exploring new tools and methods together, how to face, reduce, or avoid future stressful or crisis situations. We want to positively impact their ability to be an active members of the EU society, be socially and economically more resilient in the future when faced with personal or societal stressful and crisis situations, and be able to civically participate internationally. From a youth work practice, we want to offer the participants to be the leading roles in the youth exchange, to be present in all stages of the youth exchange, while we offer organizational background, guidance, support and ensure that quality standard are met. Participants then are in the center of the project design, we collected their needs and guided them into a process of creating a concept of the youth exchange based on the by young people for young people method. They expressed what they would like to learn about the topic, how, how they want to reflect, and how they want to structure the youth exchange’s activities schedule. The intention is that they will have the opportunity to experience hands on experiential learning, as each they includes peer-to-peer learning sessions, so they can share with each other the causes of stress, results of stress, and their personal stress management methods, learn from each other, and discover and explore new tools and methods with each other while learning about the country specific similarities and differences. We want to achieve improved stress resilience, stress management, routine planning, more social participation, increased academic, personal and work productivity, and improved mental health of participants, and therefore contribute to a better social and economic life of EU citizens. We also want to contribute to spreading awareness about the topic of stress management and mental health, help destigmatize it and accent the importance of this topic in youth work. As organizations, we want to solidify our partnership, so that we can use this youth exchange’s outcomes and experience to apply in our local work and we can continue supporting each other through exchanging of knowledge, tools and practices in youth work, incorporating stress management and resilience techniques and awareness rising. We hope to improve our youth work through the experience of guiding a youth exchange by young people for young people, and we hope to offer more international mobilities based on the partnership that will arise from the organisation of this youth exchange. We want to also reach a broader audience from our defined target group through our planned dissemination and follow up activities so that we can increase the impact of our youth exchange beyond the participants and participating organizations. The defined objectives are: 1. Increase awareness and understanding of stress and well-being 2. Strengthen resilience through practical stress-management tools and routine building 3. Empower young people through peer-to-peer and by-young-people-for-young-people learning 4. Strengthen European belonging, active citizenship and community impact
