Objectives

Creative Bridges 2 is the second edition of a successful youth exchange project that builds on the results, feedback and learning outcomes of its first implementation. The initial project confirmed the strong impact of creative and arts-based non-formal education on young people’s self-confidence, social inclusion, competence development, mental well-being and employability. Based on these findings, the project has been further developed to strengthen its learning impact. The second edition introduces a clearer and more effective learning assessment process, more intensive theatrical improvisation sessions, and a better-structured allocation of roles within the filmmaking process. These improvements aim to enhance responsibility-sharing, collaboration and the development of job-relevant digital and creative skills among participants. The project responds to identified challenges among young people in partner countries, including economic insecurity, social exclusion, weakened school-to-work transitions, low self-confidence and increasing mental health issues. Young people with fewer opportunities often lack safe spaces for self-expression and dialogue, more accessible social and community activities and support to identify their strengths and opportunities to develop their confidence and real-life skills in an international environment. From a youth work perspective, Creative Bridges 2 creates inclusive, participatory and learner-centred environments where young people actively co-create the program, share responsibilities and engage in reflection. It uses cultural heritage, filmmaking and theatrical improvisation as tools for empowerment, intercultural dialogue and competence development. The project consists of 2 complementary youth exchanges. Folklore Fusion uses European folklore and traditional artistic expression to increase cultural awareness, solidarity and appreciation of diversity. By exploring shared elements of European cultural heritage, participants develop communication skills, teamwork and a sense of belonging within an international group. Audiovisual Synergy builds on this foundation and focuses on filmmaking and structured theatrical improvisation as tools for personal empowerment, mental well-being and employability. Participants work in clearly defined production roles, sharing responsibilities and developing leadership, digital literacy and project management skills. Through collaborative film creation, they improve their creativity, critical thinking and practical competences relevant for the labour market. The objectives of Creative Bridges 2 are to: Strengthen self-awareness, confidence, and individual strengths in young people to improve their transition to the labour market and become active members in their communities; Promote mental well-being among young people by creating non-judgmental spaces for self-expression and mutual support through creative activities; Use art as a tool to raise awareness of social issues such as inclusion, diversity, and social cohesion; Improve communication skills in native and foreign languages, as well as social skills and teamwork; Promote the importance of folklore and cultural heritage in strengthening young people’s identity and sense of belonging; Promote positive impacts of folklore on inclusion, mental and physical health and social cohesion; Empower local youth in Serbia by engaging them in European mobility and encouraging their active participation in a local folklore group; Offer the youth meaningful leisure time social and community activities to prevent unhealthy behaviour; Support young people in making informed career and life choices by helping them recognize their individual strengths, needs, and competencies; Equip participants with skills relevant to the job market, particularly in creative industries and movie production; Develop knowledge and practical skills in movie production; Improve their acting skills and creative problem solving skills through theatrical improvisation; Promote European values and encourage international cooperation and dialogue to develop a sense of European citizenship in young people. Intense reflection and Learning Record process ensure that participants can identify and apply their learning outcomes. Building on the achievements of the first edition and further improving its methodologies, Creative Bridges 2 contributes to sustainable, high-quality youth work that helps young people to become confident, skilled and socially engaged European citizens.
