Objectives

By implementing the "Influence for Change" project, we aim to achieve a fundamental shift in youth work practice by moving young people from passive digital consumers to active "Digital Artivists" who utilize smartphones as powerful tools for social advocacy. Our primary objectives from a youth work perspective are to bridge the "advocacy gap" by equipping 30-35 participants—specifically those from rural areas, facing economic obstacles, or feeling "digitally marginalized"—with the technical and conceptual tools necessary for impactful digital storytelling. We seek to foster media literacy by teaching youth to deconstruct digital content and identify misinformation, while simultaneously mastering a "low-budget, high-impact" approach to filmmaking that includes mobile editing and sound design. Furthermore, the project aims to promote intercultural collaboration through multinational teams that translate abstract European values into engaging short-form video content, thereby fostering a sense of European identity and constructive dialogue. By utilizing a non-formal, "learning by doing" methodology, we intend to produce a "Digital Impact Kit" that extends the reach of these social messages across Europe while providing participants with a formal Youthpass Certificate to recognize their newly acquired digital and social competencies The "Influence for Change" project utilizes a diverse set of non-formal, "learning by doing" methodologies specifically designed to be interactive and participant-led, beginning with "The Algorithm of Impact" where participants analyze viral social justice campaigns to understand the psychological hooks that make a video "stick" for positive social messaging. This is followed by the "Smartphone Film Lab," a hands-on technical workshop where youth learn to maximize their phone's potential by focusing on framing, natural lighting, and free mobile editing apps like CapCut or VN, proving that high-impact content does not require professional cameras. The core challenge of the project is the "Storytelling Hackathon," a 24-hour intensive phase where multinational teams identify a local or global issue and produce a high-impact Reels or TikTok campaign that proposes a creative solution. To address the emotional and ethical aspects of digital work, the project includes "Digital Empathy and Safety Sessions" which focus on the "human" side of the internet, covering the impact of cyber-bullying, digital well-being, and the creation of "safe spaces" online. Finally, the learning cycle concludes with "The Digital Premiere," an internal screening where participants engage in peer-to-peer feedback to evaluate the creative choices and potential social impact of each video produced. These methods combined ensure that participants not only gain technical skills but also develop the critical thinking and collaborative spirit necessary to become effective "Digital Artivists" who can challenge stereotypes and spark real-world change.rticipants with a formal Youthpass Certificate to recognize their newly acquired digital and social competencies.
