With the project “Digital Wellbeing in Turbulent Times”, we aim to empower young people to develop a conscious, reflective and self-determined approach to digital media and to strengthen their mental health in an increasingly digitalised world. All partner organisations observe in their daily youth work a rise in media consumption, growing social pressure through social networks, decreasing offline leisure activities and increasing levels of stress, overload and loneliness among young people. From a youth work perspective, we see it as our responsibility to create non-formal learning spaces in which young people can critically reflect on their media behaviour, build resilience and strengthen their psychosocial competences. The project therefore aims to promote mental health and well-being, strengthen critical media literacy and digital resilience, and foster self-efficacy and civic engagement. Media literacy is understood holistically, including not only technical skills but also self-regulation, critical thinking, awareness of algorithms and disinformation, and responsible behaviour in digital environments. At the same time, social, intercultural and democratic competences are strengthened within a European context. Through international cooperation, participants experience diversity as an enrichment, develop empathy and teamwork skills, and actively engage with European values. The project thus enhances both the personal development of participants and the quality of youth work practice in the field of digital resilience and mental health.
