Objectives

As the next generation of the European workforce, we are entering the workforce in an era of unprecedented change, we are acutely aware of the alarming trends shown in the latest Eurostat and Statista (2025) data. When we analyze the youth unemployment landscape across our partner network, we see a reality that directly impacts our future: while Germany maintains a stable rate of 6.8%, countries like Romania (26.9%) and Spain (23.4%) face critical levels of instability. Even in nations seeing a decline, such as Türkiye (15.57%), or an upward trend, like Bulgaria (12.0%), the common thread is a profound mismatch between traditional education and the digital labor market. Looking at these figures, we identified a massive gap that traditional career paths fail to address: Eurostat reveals that only 4% of youth aged 15-24 are engaged in self-employment. This statistic was a wake-up call for us. It highlights a systemic lack of the 'Soft Skills 2.0' resilience, digital self-management, and entrepreneurial thinking needed to thrive in the modern Gig economy. Driven by these realities, we decided to take initiative. We designed this project as a strategic response to bridge this gap. We don't want to be passive observers of these statistics; we want to be the ones who create awareness for the youth people with our project results. By balancing our consortium with countries facing different economic climates, we aim to investigate why traditional employment is failing many of us and how the Gig Economy can serve as a viable, professional alternative. This project is our way of turning these 'alarming trends' into a laboratory for innovation, ensuring that we are no longer just numbers in an unemployment report, but proactive architects of our own digital careers. As young people, we want to empower young participants to discover and sharpen their soft skills through non-formal and informal education methods, enabling them to navigate the modern labor market with confidence. We aim to create a space where youth can independently analyze the emerging opportunities and requirements of the Gig Economy, learning how to integrate these flexible models into their own professional lives. By implementing this project, we want to demonstrate—through the dissemination of our results—that digital self-employment and the 'SoloPreneur' model represent a viable, strategic alternative to traditional career paths, especially at a time when youth unemployment remains a critical challenge across Europe. Ultimately, we aim to transform the mindset of participants from passive job-seekers to proactive value creators who can design their own professional futures outside of conventional structures. Our Specific Objectives: 1-Encourage young people to take the initiative in developing Gig Economy activities. 2-Build participants’ attitudes, skills, and knowledge in the Gig Economy with non-formal and informal learning methods. 3-Enhance communication, relationship-building, and teamwork skills among participants. 4-Foster intercultural dialogue and promote European values of solidarity, cooperation, and mutual understanding. 5-Support lifelong learning, personal development, sharing of knowledge, civic engagement, and democratic participation through experiential, non-formal, and peer-to-peer learning. 6-Create opportunities for participants to share resources, exchange ideas, and create networks. 7-Promote learning mobility, cooperation, and quality in youth and entrepreneurial education. 8-Raise awareness of the Erasmus+ program and Youthpass as tools for working with young people in areas such as sports, participation, and intercultural learning. 9-Promote EU citizenship, values, and Erasmus+ opportunities while strengthening partnerships. 10-Foster Soft Skills 2.0, Equip participants with professional self-management, digital ethics, and remote collaboration skills using non-formal and somatic learning methods. 11-Experience teamwork, formation, and cooperation within a community, while practicing patience, persistence, and tolerance essential for entrepreneurship. By implementing the "Soft Skills 2.0: Navigating the Gig Economy for Youth" project, we aim to achieve a transformative impact on the participants, both at the individual and community levels, through targeted youth work practices. The objectives of this project go beyond theoretical learning, focusing on real-world applications that equip young people with the necessary tools for a successful self-entrepreneurial journey. From the perspective of youth work practice, we aim to; empower youth to take initiative, develop entrepreneurial attitudes and skills, foster social and professional growth, promote intercultural understanding, support lifelong learning and civic engagement, create lasting networks and partnerships, and increase visibility and awareness of Erasmus+ and Youthpass.
