The project "Meine ideale Stadt / Ma ville idéale / Η ιδανική πόλη μου 2026 in Rostock" is the second of three planned exchanges between France, Germany and Greece. Young people from three European countries come together to share their visions and support each other in taking steps to make their voices heard by local representatives and the urban society of Rostock. The main objective is to raise young people's awareness of active citizenship and barriers erected by national prejudices and stereotypes. For that we aim to providing them with tools helping them to understand how society works and encouraging them and lowering barriers to get involved in their social and political environment. The ‘ideal city’ as an object of reflection will promote creative and critical thinking about the current challenges of our societies and to consider actions able to improve collective well-being. European values and fundamental rights acting as a baseline can strenghten their sense of belonging and commitment to a more inclusive and supportive society. Therefore the project aims to create strong links between participants. Lasting friendships and a network of committed young Europeans can be results of engaging in this project. Young people will learn to work in diverse teams, respect different points of view and actively contribute to a common project. The role of facilitators and organisers will also be to provide guidance in their interactions and support them in creating these connections through thematic and group building activities. The idea is also to give them knowledge and a real impression of mobility programmes in Europe, as many are unfamiliar with them. In addition, this project aims to create a meeting place for young people of different nationalities to enable them to discover and understand cultures other than their own. Working on the ‘ideal city’ as a metaphor for a liveable society will enable them to explore common issues (environment, inclusion, diversity, sports, democracy, etc.) and develop collaborative solutions.
