The project is designed to equip youth workers with advanced digital skills, AI literacy, and innovative methodologies that enhance their capacity to engage young people and strengthen civic participation in an AI-integrated digital society. Building on previous initiatives, it responds to emerging challenges such as AI-generated misinformation, algorithmic bias, ethical use of artificial intelligence, and the growing need for youth workers to understand and navigate AI-powered platforms. By focusing on AI literacy, responsible prompting practices, critical media analysis, and effective social media strategies in the age of AI, the project ensures that youth workers are prepared to guide young people through the complexities of human–AI interaction and contemporary digital engagement. A core objective is to strengthen AI-related competencies within youth work by providing practical training in AI tools, prompt engineering, and AI-enhanced content creation. Youth workers will develop the skills required to use AI collaboratively in online learning contexts, facilitate critical discussions on algorithmic influence, and integrate AI-supported approaches into non-formal education and civic initiatives while maintaining a strong human-centred perspective. Emphasis is placed on AI literacy and critical analysis of AI-generated content, enabling youth workers to support young people in evaluating AI outputs, recognising deepfakes and synthetic media, understanding algorithmic bias, and engaging responsibly with AI-driven platforms. Promoting civic engagement through ethical AI use represents another central aim of the project. Participants will be trained to leverage AI tools and social media platforms for youth activism, community participation, and advocacy while critically understanding algorithmic personalisation and filter bubbles. They will develop methodologies that encourage youth-led digital campaigns using AI for content creation, accessibility, and multilingual outreach, ensuring responsible participation in democratic processes. Training will also address AI-enhanced misinformation, equipping youth workers with practical verification techniques and critical AI thinking skills to counter deepfakes, synthetic media, and algorithmically amplified disinformation. Ensuring inclusion and equal access to AI-enhanced digital youth work is fundamental to the project’s approach. Strategies will be developed to engage marginalised and disadvantaged young people facing barriers to digital and AI participation, ensuring meaningful opportunities to learn and contribute in AI-integrated digital spaces. Training will emphasise the use of AI for accessibility, including translation, text-to-speech, and content simplification, while addressing new digital divides created by unequal access to AI technologies. Youth workers will learn to design inclusive and culturally sensitive digital engagement activities that use AI ethically and respond to gender-based, socio-economic, and geographical inequalities. Encouraging innovation in non-formal education will ensure that youth work evolves alongside AI developments. Interactive and AI-enhanced learning approaches will be introduced, including prompt literacy workshops, AI co-creation exercises, and gamified learning experiences. Blended learning models combining AI tools with human facilitation will enhance accessibility and adaptability. The project will support the development of AI-aware youth work models that promote e-democracy participation, responsible AI use, ethical prompting, data protection awareness, and critical evaluation of algorithmic systems. Strengthening transnational cooperation and knowledge exchange is central to the project’s long-term impact. A European Digital Youth Work Network will be established to enable collaboration and peer learning on AI in youth work. In parallel, a comprehensive Digital Civic Engagement Toolkit will be developed, including AI literacy modules, prompt libraries for youth work, ethical AI guidelines, and resources on algorithmic systems, data rights, and responsible AI interaction. The expected impact includes a substantial enhancement of digital and AI competencies among youth workers, strengthening youth engagement through AI-supported accessibility, multilingual communication, personalised learning, and creative civic campaigns. Civic participation will expand as youth workers apply AI-enhanced approaches to activism, advocacy for algorithmic transparency, and democratic engagement in AI-mediated environments. Sustainability will be ensured through a European-wide network of AI-literate youth workers and an open-access toolkit that remains adaptable as AI technologies evolve, ensuring ethical, critical, and human-centred digital youth work across Europe.
