Having in mind that according with council of Europe reserach Participation of young Roma in youth work, while vital for empowerment and combating social exclusion, often faces barriers, resulting in low or tokenistic representation in formal structures we belive that we need to support and capacitate the members/ teams of Roma and non Roma NGO's who work with Roma young people and to create materials which can support thayr work in otder to increase the participation and civic involvement of Roma young people. The core idea is to revitalize the "9 steps guide in working with Roma young people"—a proven methodology used within the ternype network, created and developed by Nevo Parudimos together with other NGO’s who work with Roma—by adding a robust Digital Youth Work and AI component. The specific objectives of the project are: 1. To equip 32 youth workers, social workers and volunteers who work with Roma young people with practical AI skills to enhance the quality of their social work with Roma communities during the project 2. To update the "9 steps guide in working with Roma young people" to the actual youth work reality keeping the specificities adapted for Roma young people during the project. 3. To increase the exchange of experience and the profesional development of 32 youth workers who work with Roma young people from Germany, Romania, Belgium, Serbia, Hungary, Portugal, Czech Republic and N. Macedonia during the project. 4. To strengthen the cooperation between ternype members and new partners from Portugal and Czechia, creating a cross- European support system. Concrete this project want to respond to the folowing needs of youthworkers who work with Roma young people: - lack of knowlerdes and experience in using AI and other digital tools in youth work - lack of up to date materials and methodologies which to support theyr work in mobilising Roma young people - lack of experience and of experts/ peers which to communicate with and exchange ideeas in how to work and how to mobilize Roma young people By carrying out this project, we move from being "passive observers" of the digital revolution to "active creators," ensuring that Roma youth are not left behind in the age of Artificial Intelligence Our project is designed to address the internal organizational needs of the partnership, ensuring that the activities translate into long-term institutional capacity. The project fits the needs of the participating organizations by addressing the specific gaps identified in their current operational frameworks and professional profiles: • Methodological modernization for Roma-led organizations: For organizations like Amaro Foro (Germany), Nevo Parudimos (Romania), Együttható Egyesulet (Hungary), RROMA (North Macedonia), and Tačka Gledišta (Serbia), there is a core need to evolve traditional social work. As the original developers of methodologies like the "9 steps guide," these organizations require a structured environment to test and integrate AI tools. The project allows them to transition from conventional outreach to a "Digital Youth Work" model that is more appealing and accessible to the current generation of Roma youth. • Institutional capacity and network strengthening: For ternype (Belgium), the project fulfills the need for high-level staff training across its network. By updating its core resources with digital components, the network ensures that its member organizations remain at the forefront of youth work innovation. This strengthens the network’s role as a European leader in Roma youth advocacy. • Professional development and staff retention: Across all partners, the internal survey revealed a significant need for professional growth. With 20 out of 24 youth workers feeling "outdated" regarding AI, this project serves as a vital professional development opportunity. By investing in the digital literacy of their staff, these NGOs improve employee motivation, reduce burnout caused by inefficient manual processes, and increase the quality of their local interventions. In summary, the project acts as a catalyst for digital transition. It moves the participating organizations from a state of digital uncertainty to one of professional competence, ensuring that their teams are equipped with the modern tools necessary to combat the systemic exclusion of Roma youth effectively.
