The project aims to strengthen youth workers’ capacity to support young people in turning environmental awareness into realistic, inclusive, youth-led local action. In youth work practice, environmental concern among young people is growing, yet youth workers often lack practical tools to transform this concern into meaningful participation, especially for young people with fewer opportunities. The project therefore focuses on equipping youth workers with non-formal education methods, inclusive facilitation approaches, and action-planning tools that help young people move from awareness and concern to achievable local initiatives. From a youth work perspective, the project seeks to improve the quality of youth work by strengthening competences in youth participation, inclusion, and sustainability education, enabling youth workers to design and facilitate youth-led initiatives that are realistic, accessible, and locally relevant. The main objectives of the project are to strengthen youth workers’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes in facilitating youth participation and shared decision-making; to increase their competence in designing inclusive youth activities that actively involve young people with fewer opportunities; to support youth workers in guiding young people through the process of developing and implementing local sustainability initiatives; and to strengthen cooperation and exchange of practices between youth organisations across Europe. The project also aims to support the professional development of youth workers and contribute to the overall quality, innovation, and recognition of youth work practice. To achieve these objectives, the project will implement a 8-day international Training Course in Alanya, Türkiye, bringing together 32 youth workers from eight partner countries. Participants include youth workers, youth leaders, NGO staff, facilitators, and community educators who work directly with young people in non-formal education settings. The activity is based on experiential and non-formal learning methods such as simulations, case-based work, field visits, design workshops, peer learning, and daily reflection supported by Youthpass. During the Training Course, participants will explore environmental challenges affecting young people, analyse youth participation and inclusion barriers, learn practical tools for inclusive facilitation, and co-create realistic youth-led sustainability initiative plans that can be implemented after the mobility. The programme also includes sessions on dissemination and follow-up planning to ensure the transfer of learning into daily youth work practice. The expected results include strengthened competences of youth workers in facilitating inclusive and participatory youth work; the development of concrete youth-led sustainability initiative plans; improved organisational capacity to design action-oriented youth activities; and strengthened international cooperation between partner organisations. After the mobility, participants will implement follow-up actions with young people in their local communities, share methods within their organisations, and disseminate results through youth activities, professional networks, and local partnerships. Overall, the project contributes to the development of more inclusive, participatory, and sustainability-oriented youth work by empowering youth workers to support young people as active agents of change in their communities.
